Description

Panchamukha Hanuman is revered as a symbol of strength, devotion, courage, humility, wisdom and victory. This unique form of Hanuman, with five faces, symbolizes various aspects of original form of mukhyaprāṇa.

The Powerful Form of Mukhyaprana: Panchamukha Hanuman

Panchamukha Hanuman is depicted with five faces, each representing specific traits or qualities. The central face of Hanuman represents prāṇa śakti, knowledge of the self, compassion and humility. The other faces depict his fierce and powerful aspects, namely Varaha, Garuda, Narasimha, and Hayagriva.

The Manifestation of Panchamukha Anjaneya

According to vaidika tradition, the origin of Panchamukha Hanuman can be traced back to the Ramayana era of treta yuga. During the battle with Ravana, Vibhishana informs Rama that in order to achieve victory, disrupting the Nikumbhala worship undertaken in secret which protects the pancha-prana-s i.e., fivefold vital breath of Ravana is essential. Nikumbhala is a kṣudra śakti, now popularly known as pratyangira, who assumes five forms to protect each vital breath at five different locations, and in order to disrupt the protection all five energies must be vanquished all at once. As Lakshmana proceeds to disrupt the worship at the altar, Hanuman assumes the panchamukha form to vanquish the all the five prāṇa-s protected by nikumbhala in five different places all at once and succeeds in doing so.

Significance and Vaidika Worship

The significance of Panchamukha Hanuman lies in his ability to bestow blessings and remove obstacles from the lives of his devotees. Each face of Panchamukha Hanuman represents a different aspect of his divine personality, offering protection, wisdom, and prosperity to those who seek his grace. The worship of this for is especially beneficial for those facing severe financial crisis, long standing legal battles, distress from unidentifiable enemies, and those suffering from deep rooted psychological and/or paranormal problems.
