Description
This brass handcrafted upakarna known as darvī or uddaraṇe has the form of shree mahalakshmi devi at its apex seated on padma peeta in lalitāsana. The cathurbhuja (~ four-armed) rūpa of śrī mahālakṣmī bears padma-s in the upper two hands and varada & abhaya mudra-s in the lower hands. The sāstras say that all pujā-s and upacāra-s offered by all devotees reach to śri viṣṇu only through the efficient medium of śri lakshmi. This design facilitates the right anusandhana.
